Client Zero: How Technology Gave Us Back Our Life
Life has a way of changing in an instant.
For our family, those moments came more than once.
I am a double liver and kidney transplant survivor. Like many people facing serious health challenges, there were times when everyday tasks suddenly became more difficult, exhausting, and sometimes even overwhelming. The life I once knew had changed, and we found ourselves searching for ways to adapt.
My husband did something extraordinary.
Rather than accepting limitations, he began reimagining our home and our daily routines through the power of technology. Using his passion for innovation and problem-solving, he anticipated needs I didn't even know I had. He looked at every aspect of our home and asked a simple question:
"How can we make life easier, safer, and more independent?"
You could say that we became Client Zero.
What started as a few smart devices quickly evolved into a completely new way of living.
We introduced voice assistants, smart lighting, security cameras, sensors, automated routines, smart locks, and connected devices throughout our home. Lights gently illuminate at night as I move through the house. Morning routines gradually bring our home to life. Evening routines ensure every light is turned off and the house is secure with a single command.
Technology became more than convenience.
It became freedom.
It became peace of mind.
It became confidence.
Then life presented another challenge
When my mother suffered a stroke, we knew exactly where to begin. We walked through her daily routines and identified the moments that had become difficult or stressful. Together, we created solutions that would help her remain independent and safe in her own home.
We started with what we jokingly called a "pity list" — a list of everything that had become hard.
Then we transformed it into an empowerment list.
We installed Alexa devices so she could easily call loved ones and emergency contacts. We added video doorbells, cameras, smart lighting, occupancy sensors, smart locks, and automated routines. We connected appliances, monitored doors and windows, upgraded and secured her technology, and introduced simple, low-tech safety improvements.
Most importantly, we gave her something back that illness and recovery had begun to take away:
Control.
Little by little, she regained her confidence.
And with confidence came independence.
Those experiences led us to create SrIT
At SrIT, we believe that technology should serve people — not the other way around. We help individuals and families use modern technology to remain independent, safe, connected, and empowered in their own homes.
Whether it's smart home automation, safety solutions, device setup and optimization, home monitoring, or personalized routines designed around everyday life, our goal is simple:
To help people maintain their independence with confidence and less dependence.
We believe technology can do more than make life easier.
It can give people their lives back.
Sometimes, it can even give them an even better life than before.
For us, my Chapter 2 became the inspiration for SrIT.
And now, we would be honored to help write Chapter 2 for others.
If you or someone you love wants to regain independence, experience new freedoms, and enjoy the convenience and security that modern technology can provide, we'd welcome the opportunity to help.
Because everyone deserves to live confidently, safely, and independently at home.
Welcome to SrIT.
